Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County

Partner with Lancaster Craftsmen Builders

And Career and Technology Center

On Friday, October 31, 2014, Members of Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County visited two new homes under construction in and around Frederick County.  The visit was coordinated by Lancaster Craftsmen Builders of Middletown, MD and Frederick County Public Schools Career and Technology Center.  The purpose of the visits was to allow the Members to meet with Tradesmen at actual job sites and to get a taste of that particular trade in a real-life scenario.  It was an excellent opportunity for the young adults to evaluate the trades as a fulfilling career opportunity.  The Members met with plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and HVAC technicians.

Following up the event on October 31st will be a visit to the Career and Technology Center on Thursday, November 6th.  The same Members will tour the Center and gain an understanding of how the Center prepares their students for a career in the Trades.  They will 'shadow' with an existing Trades student while they get a chance to review their course structures.
